The FREE guide to making money from your photos, from one of the world's most successful microstock photographers

Author's Note: This website started life as a book. When the prospective publisher said it would be two years before it could be slotted into their schedule, I felt that was too long and too much would have changed in the industry making it out-of-date before it hit the streets. I decided, instead, to give it away on the Internet asking no more than that my readers use my referral links to sign up to photo agencies. As of late September, 2008, I am uploading the old text. In many places it is unfinished and I still have to insert photos throughout - but you are an early visitor, that work should soon be done and there is still much that you may find useful. I expect to have the main body of the work tidied up and updated within weeks, perhaps as soon as the end of October.

FREE money-making advice? Isn't that too good to be true? No! Because I aim to get my return from referral earnings.

When you use one of my links to join a stock photography site I qualify for a small referral commission every time you sell a photo. The more you sell, the more commission I get (and it doesn't affect your earnings at all).

That means it is in my interests to help you do as well as possible. That way, we will both gain.

Please take a moment to visit my referral links:

The first question most people will ask is how much money can be made by selling photos for a dollar or two. Probably more than you think possible. The top "microstock" photographer is likely to earn more than a million dollars this year. I'm not kidding! A handful of others will earn hundreds of thousands, and hundreds will earn tens of thousands (myself among them). Many of these people knew nothing about professional photography a few years ago.

Of course, thousands of others will make just a few hundred dollars and many will make little or nothing. Like everything in life, it depends on skill, commitment, knowledge and perhaps a bit of luck. But much can be learned.

In this site, I will tell you the most profitable places to sell your photographs, what sort of photos make money and what technical standards you need to achieve to have your work accepted. It is far harder to be accepted as a microstock photographer today than it was three or four years ago making it vitally important for anybody who wants to make money to understand the common pitfalls that lead to rejection and avoid wasting valuable time sending in the wrong photos.
